Consent, Disclosures & Acknowledgements

From Grief to Grace LLC is committed to transparency and your well-being. Please read the following carefully before beginning your coaching journey. These disclosures define the nature of our work together and protect both you and your coach.

1

What Coaching Is — and What It Is Not

Grief and life coaching is a forward-focused, collaborative process designed to help you navigate loss, rediscover your sense of purpose, and build a meaningful path forward. As your coach, Felicia Shephard provides compassionate guidance, practical tools, and a safe space to process your experience — while keeping your eyes fixed on healing and hope.

Coaching is not therapy, counseling, psychotherapy, psychiatric care, or any form of licensed mental health treatment. It is not a substitute for medical advice, legal counsel, or crisis intervention. The coaching relationship does not establish a therapist-client or doctor-patient relationship, and no diagnosis of any kind will be made.

If you are currently working with a therapist, counselor, or other mental health professional, coaching can complement that work — but it does not replace it. If concerns arise during our sessions that fall outside the scope of coaching, you may be encouraged to seek support from a licensed professional.
2

Credentials and Professional Scope

Felicia Shephard is a Certified Grief Coach and Certified Life Coach. She is also a Licensed Minister in the State of Alabama. Her coaching practice is grounded in compassion, faith, and evidence-informed coaching principles.

Felicia does not hold a license in medicine, psychology, social work, or professional counseling. She does not prescribe medication, provide clinical diagnosis, or offer any service that requires a state-issued healthcare or mental health license. All services provided by From Grief to Grace LLC are coaching services only.

3

Your Responsibility as a Client

Coaching is most effective when both parties show up fully. As a client, you are an active participant in your own healing — not a passive recipient. You are solely responsible for the decisions you make, the actions you take, and the outcomes of your life before, during, and after our work together.

By engaging in coaching services, you acknowledge that no guarantees or promises have been made regarding specific results. Growth looks different for every person, and your progress depends on your own commitment, readiness, and effort.

You agree to take responsibility for seeking appropriate professional support — medical, psychological, legal, or otherwise — whenever your needs extend beyond the scope of coaching. Your coach is a guide, not a substitute for licensed care.
4

Emotional Risk Acknowledgment

Grief work is meaningful — and it can also be hard. Our sessions may involve conversations about loss, pain, identity, relationships, guilt, anger, and other deeply personal experiences. It is normal for these conversations to bring up strong emotions, and that is often part of the healing process.

However, you may occasionally feel emotionally activated, fatigued, or temporarily distressed as a result of our work together. By engaging in coaching, you acknowledge this possibility and agree to take responsibility for your own emotional well-being between sessions.

If at any point you feel overwhelmed, unsafe, or are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others, please stop and seek immediate help from a licensed mental health professional or emergency services. See the crisis resources listed in Section 6.

5

Mental Health and Medical Disclaimer

Coaching services provided by From Grief to Grace LLC are not designed to diagnose, treat, or cure any mental health condition, medical condition, or psychological disorder. This includes — but is not limited to — clinical depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, suicidal ideation, self-harm, psychosis, substance use disorders, or any condition requiring clinical intervention.

If you are currently experiencing a mental health crisis, active suicidal thoughts, or any condition that requires clinical care, please reach out to a licensed professional before or instead of engaging in coaching. Your safety always comes first.

By engaging in coaching services, you release From Grief to Grace LLC and Felicia Shephard from any liability related to emotional distress, mental health outcomes, or decisions made as a result of coaching sessions.

6

Emergency and Crisis Limitation

From Grief to Grace LLC is not a crisis service. Felicia Shephard is not available for emergency response and cannot provide 24-hour support. If you are in immediate danger, experiencing a mental health emergency, or having thoughts of harming yourself or others, please contact emergency services or a crisis line right away.

Confidentiality

What you share in our sessions stays between us. From Grief to Grace LLC is committed to holding your story with care, discretion, and respect. Your personal information will never be sold, shared with third parties for marketing purposes, or disclosed without your consent.

Please be aware that coaching confidentiality has limits. Disclosure may be required by law — for example, in response to a court order or subpoena, or in situations involving suspected abuse or neglect. Additionally, if there is a reasonable belief that you are at serious risk of harm to yourself or others, your coach is ethically obligated to take steps to ensure your safety.

Coaching confidentiality does not carry the same legal privilege protections as licensed therapy or attorney-client relationships. Our goal is always to honor your trust and create a space where you feel safe to be honest.

8

Communication and Boundaries

Your scheduled coaching sessions are the dedicated space for our work together. Brief administrative communication — such as scheduling or rescheduling — may occur outside of session time via email or phone. However, extended coaching conversations, emotional processing, or crisis support outside of scheduled sessions is not included unless explicitly agreed upon in writing.

Felicia Shephard is your coach — not an on-call crisis responder or 24-hour support line. Honoring these boundaries protects the integrity of our work and ensures that you receive the focused, quality support you deserve during your sessions.

If you are ever in crisis between sessions, please use the resources listed in Section 6. Your safety is always the priority.
